How to Play Jigsaw (Medium)

Drag jigsaw pieces to reconstruct the picture using a 4×4 grid of 16 pieces.

Tip: Sort pieces by colour or pattern region before placing them.

💡 48-Piece Jigsaw Strategy

  • Close the border, then sort into piles. At 48 pieces the middle is large enough that unsorted pieces start costing you real time.
  • Sort by piece shape as well as colour. Group pieces by how many tabs and how many blanks they have; in a uniform sky region that is the only usable signal.
  • Finish one region completely. Assembling a whole recognisable object is more efficient than filling in evenly across the board.
  • Come back to the hard areas last. Plain regions get dramatically easier once the pieces around them are already placed.

🧠 What a 48-Piece Jigsaw Builds

This is the size at which a jigsaw starts to require a method rather than just persistence, which is what makes it a genuine step up from the 24-piece board. Sorting before assembling is a transferable habit — it is the same instinct as organising a task before starting it. The session length lands around ten to fifteen minutes for most players.
