- Average play time: 10 minutes
- No download or signup required

How to Play Hearts
Avoid taking Hearts (1 point each) and the Queen of Spades (13 points). Lowest score wins. Or "Shoot the Moon" by taking ALL point cards.
Tip: Pass high cards of suits you want to avoid leading.
💡 Hearts Strategy
- Get rid of high spades early. The Queen of Spades costs thirteen points alone, and holding the King or Ace without protection means you will eventually be forced to take her.
- Void a suit if you can. Having no cards in a suit lets you discard dangerous cards whenever it is led — that is the most powerful position in the game.
- Duck the early tricks. Winning a trick you did not need is how points accumulate. Playing just under the highest card is usually correct.
- Count the hearts played. Knowing how many remain tells you when leading a heart is finally safe.
- Only shoot the moon with a genuine lock. Taking all 26 points zeroes you and scores everyone else, but a failed attempt is the worst result available.
🧠 What Hearts Builds
Hearts inverts the usual card-game instinct — you are trying to lose tricks, not win them — which forces players to rethink what a strong hand even means. Tracking which cards have gone, especially the spades, is the difference between a good player and a lucky one. It is the most strategically rich card game in this collection.
